Let’s talk about the unsung hero of the burger world — the onion ring. Big or shoestring, all are appetizing. But the real debate? Where it belongs.
For me, a crispy onion ring has one true home — right on the burger.
The big, golden, perfectly battered kind sits beautifully on an 8oz patty, adding that irresistible crunch between bites. Meanwhile, the shoestring versions? They’re made for a smash burger. They melt right into the cheese and sauce, giving that salty-sweet bite that makes you close your eyes for a second.
Never on the side… unless I’m at Cookout. Then it’s fair game.
A crispy onion ring with the right crunch — not soggy, not over-fried — is everything. Thinking about it now honestly makes me want one. Maybe two.
